Valentine's Day is one of the special days which is celebrated all over the world. On this day, couples who fall in love with each other show their fidelity and love by giving some special presents such as chocolate, flowers or a ticket to Hawaii for a vacation. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.--John 15:13. Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; And therefore is winged Cupid blind. --William Shakespeare. We are shaped and fashioned by what we love. --Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe. The supreme happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved. --Victor Hugo Origin of Valentine's Day
The note that Saint Valentine left his friend, signed "Love from your Valentine"
and written on the day he died, February 14, 269 A.D., started the custom of exchanging love messages on Valentine's Day. Now, every year on this day, people remember and think about love an friendship. And when they think of Emperor Claudius, they remember how he tried to stand in the way of love, and they laugh, because they know that love can't be beaten! Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is refered to Saint Valentine's Day. There were two Saints attributed to the naming of this day. Both Saints were imprisoned and killed for being Christians. First story is that one of the Saints wrote a letter to his jailer's daughter for her kindness and he signed his letter 'your Valentine'.
Many stories tell us that both Saints died on February 14, which in Roman times was the night before a festival called Lupercalia and probably somebody got attached to the modern day celebrations of Valentine's Day.
Today, it is a day to tell people you love them and exchange Valentine's cards.
