Valentine's Day in Taiwan
In Taiwan there are two Valentine's Days. First is also on February 14th and the second is on July 7th. Both of these Valentine's Days are important in Taiwan. Here there are still many men who spend a lot of money to buy special bouquets of flowers for their girlfriends. What is very interesting in Taiwn is that the flowers have their language. So, red flowers means only love. But if you receive eleven flowers that means you are the favorite and ninety nine mean forever. If you receive one hundred and eight flowers mean you have an offer of marriage. Valentine's Day Legend
Legend says that Saint Valentine was a priest who served in third century, Rome. Emperor Caludius II wanted to maintain a great army. For this he decided that more men would be willing to join, fight and die for Rome. Because they didn't want to leaved their wives and children to join in army, Emperor Caludius II outlawed marriage. Valentine defied the Emperor by performing marriages in secret, of course, thus bringing young couples in love together. When his traitorous actions were discovered, he was imprisoned, and put to death. He was subsequently declared a Saint by the Catholic church.Valentine's Day quotation
